  • How do I know when my athlete is ready for club volleyball?

This decision does not come down to simply age or grade level.  Experience in the sport trumps age; but of course be aware of varying levels of physical, social, emotional maturity that could be factored in.

For example...a 5th grader can be new to the sport OR have 3 years of playing experience.  In this case...placement in a stimulating training environment for the level of the athlete is most important.  Generally speaking most ADVANCED athletes are beginning club by 11s/5th grade.

  • Which age division should my daughter play in?

USA Volleyball has strict guidelines concerning age.

Click the Age Definitions link, plug in your birth date and it will tell you what age division you must play in.  Age groups are categorized by July 1st!

Please check summer/early fall birthdays...you may need to play up.

  • How long is the club volleyball season?

The girls' club season typically runs from November-May, with tryouts in early November and region finals in May.  Most teams will attend a post-season tournament in late June.  Tryouts are in early November, however preseason clinics begin Mid-August.

It's important to attend fall clinics leading up to the November tryout date.  Keep reading for more info!

  • How can I prepare for club tryouts at Victorium?

Get on our radar early by attending Fall Clinics. Usually offered 3 - 4 times a week from mid August - late October.

It's important to be seen and develop relationship with coaches during fall clinics.   This will make evaluations on tryout day easier for all!  See more about Open House/Eval period below.

  • What can parents expect during the Open House/Eval period and tryouts?

The Arizona Region allows all clubs to hold 3 evaluation clinics prior to tryouts. Our  evaluations are structured with various skill and competition drills which allow our coaching staff an opportunity to see athletes play prior to tryouts.

Players can expect to be led through various skill and competition drills to prepare for their upcoming tryout.

Coaches can provide feedback to athletes/parents at the end of each eval based on the athlete's performance in the gym that day, answer any questions parents/players may have regarding the athlete’s performance, or the upcoming club season in general.

Our coaches will not make guarantees or promises to parents/players at evals regarding team selection or placement.

We highly recommend attending at least 1 evaluation clinic prior to attending tryouts.

At tryouts, parents can expect to arrive 45 minutes early for registration, their athelte to participate in various skill and competition drills for about 1.5-2 hours, and then go through the team selection process.

If your athlete does not make a team at VVC, we do offer other programming throughout the year, or can help you find another club in the area to reach out to and tryout for.

  • What fees are associated with club volleyball and what is included?

This varies by age group and commitment level of the team.  Victorium has typically 3-4 teams at every age group (10s, 11s, 12s, 13s, 14s...up to 18s).

    Within each age group: 13-Vibe, 13-National, 13-Black, 13-Silver.

The 11s age group will not travel out of state unless requested.

12s - 18s Vibe and National teams travel out of state 2-4 times a season. While 12s - 18s Black and Silver teams may travel one weekend or stay within the state the entire season.
